Lees Ferry

The Colorado River is so vital to the Southwest. Our “Mississippi”, it provides vital water, clean power, and recreation to millions of us in this part of the country. A couple of us took advantage of the recreation part and spent the weekend catching the Southern-most wild trout of its 1,450 miles.

It was a great few days. A huge thanks to Kevin for dragging his boat up and showing us the ropes on the river.

Wow! Amazing photos and beautiful fish as well. This just makes me want to go to Lake Powel right now! Love the way you document these trips and love your talent with photography!

I was thinking that the whole time. The canyon looks the same but feel different. Pretty chilly wading in 48* water and cruising 40 mph through the shadows in the morning.

Sweet pics, wow brings back lots of memories fishing the river from Lee’s Ferry. Beautiful fish.

  8. Kyle Says:

Thanks! I wish I could have fished it in the glory days like you did. Maybe it will come back some day like that, either way its still a great fishery.

Great report as always kyle. Patrick is fun to fish with and it’s true, he usually catches the daily lunker. One of my great great great grandfathers was one of the first men to run the ferry down there, his name was Warren Marshall Johnson, he has a facebook page that’s pretty interesting to read.

Beautiful Photos! Reminds me of Powell. Did you take all these? They’re incredible!

  12. Kyle Says:

@ Angie, Thanks! I took all but one or two of these. I need to get into the SLR world but this canyon and these fish make about any photographer/camera a good one.
